Important Disclaimer: Never expose faux fur to high temperature heat. High temperature cleaning can cause burning or melting of the fur. Heat damage is unrepairable. We cannot be held responsible for any heat damage that may occur to your faux fur products under any circumstances.
Daily Care and Maintenance
Regular Brushing:
- Use a soft-bristled brush to gently comb through the faux fur.
- Brush in the direction of the fur to prevent tangles and matting.
- Regular brushing will help keep the fur looking fluffy and vibrant.
- Give your fur product a gentle shake after wearing it to remove dust and loose particles.
- This will help maintain the fur's natural fluffiness.
- For small stains, use a damp cloth with a mild soap solution or stain remover like Folex.
- Gently blot the stain, avoid rubbing which can damage the fibers.
- Use a clean damp cloth to remove any soap residue.
Machine Washing:
- Use a gentle cycle with cold water to avoid heat damage to the fur.
- Use a mild detergent that is free from bleach and fabric softeners.
- Turn the item inside out and place it in a mesh laundry bag to protect it.
- Fill a bucket or bath tub with cold water and a small amount of mild detergent.
- Gently submerge the item and agitate the water with your hands.
- Rinse thoroughly with cold water until all soap is removed.
Avoid Heat:
- Never use a dryer for your faux fur products. High heat can damage the fibers and permanently alter the texture.
- Lay the product flat on a clean, dry towel and roll it up to remove excess water.
- Unroll and reshape the coat or pants, then lay it flat on a drying surface.
- Never use an iron or hair straightener on the fur.
- Allow the item to air dry completely in a well-ventilated area.
- Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources like radiators.
Storing Your Faux Fur
Proper Hanging:
- Use a broad-shouldered hanger to support the weight of the fur item and maintain its shape.
- Avoid wire hangers which can distort the shoulders of a coat.
Storage:
- Store your item in a breathable garment bag to protect it from dust and dirt.
- Avoid plastic bags which can trap moisture and cause damage.
- Store your fur in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid basements and attics which can be humid and cause mold growth.
- For deep cleaning, take your faux fur to a professional cleaner who specializes in faux fur.
- Avoid regular dry cleaners who may not have experience with synthetic fibers.
- Always check to make sure they don't use a heat cleaning method.
- Keep your coat away from open flames and excessive heat sources to prevent melting.
- Never leave your fur coat in a hot car, tent, or in any place reaching over 120 degrees fahrenheit.
